Let's start a Twitter storm to show our appreciation for the Pope. It's easy. Here's how you can help...

Benedict XVI

Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict has taught each of how to love Jesus just a little more. By resigning he is showing us humility. Let?s show our gratitude by starting a Twitter Storm when he steps down. I need?lots of participation, we need to send off thousands of Tweets to succeed. The goal is to have multiple terms trend globally.

I wanted to tell teens who may not otherwise be reached about the Pope and I thought that if we could occupy some of the top 10 trending terms on twitter, we might get some attention. If you have a twitter account, you can take part by writing tweets beforehand, writing live tweets, or retweeting like crazy.

Since his resignation is at 8pm Rome time, I think scheduling it right about then would be best. I?m going to schedule tweets and be on retweeting from 7:45 to 8:15 (assuming there is not a celebration in St. Peter?s Square which I may go to).

Some have suggested we start getting it trending on the 27 and try for all day and focus even more on the exact moment he steps down.

There is no sign-up for this activity, anyone can join. I want to post some instructions here.

8pm Rome Time Is?

7pm in the UK

2pm in EST (New York, Detroit, Miami)

1pm in CST (Chicago, Dallas, Winnipeg)

noon in MST (Calgary, Denver)

11am in PST (LA, Vancouver, Seattle)

What Terms? What?s Trending?

Twitter Trends

Twitter Trends

Whenever you go on?Twitter, there are the top ten hashtags trending globally on the left (see image). These have all kinds of meanings. I?ve seen everything from #JustinBeiberFollowMe to #StopTaiji (which is a dolphin hunt in Japan) trend to the top. while I was on. Nobody knows the formula but it seems that overused terms are disqualified from trending. People use #FB for Facebook all the time but it is never on the ?trending? list.

We have to get one hashtag trending to the top before switching.

Here is my suggested list to include. Each followed by a sample tweet (I think trending works better if have slightly different tweets so change them up; I am keeping them well below 140 characters so each can add a little):

First: #ThanksPontifex

#ThanksPontifex?for almost 8 years leading the #Catholic Church

#ThanksPontifex?for being a faithful witness to Christ

#ThanksPontifex?for building up the Catholic Faith

#ThanksPontifex for your humility @pontifex

#ThanksPontifex?you are in my prayers. #Pope #Catholic #BenedictXVI

Second:?#PontifexThanks

Third:?#TYBenedictXVI

If you know the following Languages:

#GraciasBenedictoXVI -?#GraciasBenedictoXVI por su servicio a la Iglesia #Catolica. #Papa

#GrazieBenedettoXVI -?#GrazieBenedettoXVI per tutto ci? che ha fatto per la Chiesa. #Papa

#GratiasBenedictoXVI ? #GratiasBenedictoXVI, era Papa vero in tempis duris.

How to Schedule Tweets

There are a number of programs that schedule Tweets. Each program is slightly different, but they all basically ask you to write a tweet then set a time. (You want to set most for 7:45 to 8:15pm Rome time Thursday.) I use Buffer every day, and I think the others listed here work. Buffer is a little different:?rather than scheduling each one, you set the times you will tweet on one tab then post a list of tweets to go out at those times in another.

Buffer:?bufferapp.com

Future Tweets:?futuretweets.com

Unfollwers.me includes scheduled tweets:?unfollowers.me

All in one apps that include scheduled tweets:

HootSuite: ?hootsuite.com

TweetDeck:?tweetdeck.com

Please add more ideas, more model tweets, etc. in the comments. I will update this.

NFL combine: Oregon State WR Markus Wheaton and Oregon Ducks RB Kenjon Barner to take the field Sunday

The NFL Scouting Combine continues Sunday with wide receivers and
running backs taking the field at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

?

Former Oregon running back Kenjon Barner and former Oregon State wide receiver Markus Wheaton are scheduled to perform in front of NFL scouts.

The combine is televised on NFL Network.

?

Former Oregon offensive lineman Kyle Long performed Saturday. He ran the third fastest 40-yard dash time among offensive linemen at 4.94 seconds. His broad jump of 8 feet, 11 inches ranked 14th. He ranked eighth in the 20-yard shuttle with a time of 4.63.

?

Long is projected by many to be taken in the first two rounds of the NFL draft, April 25-27.

?

On Monday, former Oregon defensive lineman Dion Jordan and linebacker Kiko Alonso will perform. On Tuesday, former Oregon State cornerback Jordan Poyer and former Oregon safety John Boyett will take the field.

?

Here's a look at how an NFL scout and NFLDraftScout.com senior analyst Rob Rang view Barner and Wheaton heading into Sunday's workouts.

Kenjon Barner, running back, 5-9, 196

?
Scout's take: "I kind of like the speed. He's a good back. But at that size I don't see him running inside for anybody. Pass blocking will be an issue. Not a great returner. He might find a niche as a third-down guy or maybe on special teams. I liked LaMichael James better. He seemed like he had more big plays, longer runs. I thought he ran a little harder. At that size Barner is not that dynamic. His size puts him at the low end of the positional profile unless you're just absolutely dynamic."
Round projection: Fourth.
?
Rang's take: "I think he's less of a prospect than LaMichael James because he I don't think he's quite as fast as James in terms of straight-line speed. But to me, Barner might be a better all-around player. Better receiver. Better return man. But he's not a very physical guy. He won't be drafted as highly as James (second round last year). Maybe fourth or fifth, or lower, unless he runs really well. I love the hands out of the backfield. That was something I didn't expect. I could see him giving a team five or seven snaps per game. I think he could be effective as a change-of-pace back."
Round projection: Fifth
?

Markus Wheaton, wide receiver, 5-11, 189

Scout's take: "He's good. You're looking at a lighter guy. But yet he's got real good speed. He made a lot of plays for OSU. Size could be a limitation. His run after the catch was not that great. He's more of a route runner. He'll catch the ball on the move and downfield but he's not a guy who will make a lot of moves and make you miss. He's not dynamic that way. He's a sharp kid and he's been well coached. His technique is very good."
Round projection: second or third.

Rang's take: "He's obviously a dynamic athlete with great lateral ability and straight-line speed. He has ability to elude defenders. There's only a few receivers in this draft who can do that. His inconsistency is a bit of a concern. To me he's one of those guys that projects best to a team that wants to throw the ball downfield consistently. I like him as a blocker but have reservations about his overall size. He has a slim build. But I think he'll run well."
Round projection:? second.

Biden to Connecticut for Gun Talk

Vice President Joe Biden is slated to travel to Connecticut this week to deliver remarks at a conference on gun violence about 12 miles from Newtown, Conn.

Chris Murphy, Connecticut's newly elected Democratic senator, told reporters on a conference call today that Biden's visit will help Newtown heal after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School that sparked a national debate over gun control.

"We have not had a comprehensive forum to explain to the Newtown community and to the people in Connecticut the changes we're thinking about making in Washington," Murphy said, noting that most of the discussion about guns in Connecticut has centered on changes to state law.

"The conference is going to be really important, both in terms of its role in the community's recovery process, as well as in the community's role in the educational process in this issue," Murphy told reporters on a conference call organized to release polling figures critical of the National Rifle Association.

Attendees have not been announced, and Murphy said the full list is being finalized. Murphy will host the event along with Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Elizabeth Etsy, both Democrats from Connecticut.

Rumors claim Google will launch its own retail stores, maybe by the holidays

Rumors claim Google will launch its own retail stores, maybe even by the holidays

On Friday, a report surfaced on 9to5Google that Google was making serious plans to open permanent retail locations, and it's been followed up today by the Wall Street Journal indicating the same thing. Both cite unnamed sources, who claim that the company wants to provide space for customers to try out its Nexus devices, software like the Chrome browser and unnamed upcoming products. The rumors differ slightly on potential timeframe, with the initial one suggesting we could see shops open by the holidays this year, while the WSJ indicates a wider timeframe with the possibility that stores may not launch this year at all. Google's already opened a few pop-up shop temporary locations at airports and in other stores, like the one pictured above in the UK.

As Google moves further into hardware the potential of Apple-style branded physical stores grows, whether just to sell the phones and tablets we've seen so far or alongside more secretive projects like that rumored "X Phone." Also, once moonshot attempts like Project Glass and self-driving cars hit, having trained retail staff for hands-on demos may be just what the doctor ordered for skeptics. There's no word on where these stores may appear of course, but if you spot any darkened storefronts in your local mall please drop a line in our tips inbox, along with its distance from the nearest Sbarros -- we hear Googlers loves Sbarros.

GOLF: Merrick lives out dream with win at Riviera

slideshow LOS ANGELES ? John Merrick was a young face in the crowd at Riviera for so many years, dreaming of one day playing the fabled course on the PGA Tour.

On Sunday, he did better than that. He won on it.

Merrick hit two clutch shots that led to two pars in a sudden-death playoff and won the Northern Trust Open on Sunday when Charlie Beljan missed a 5-foot par putt on the second extra hole.

Merrick, who closed with a 2-under 69, became only the ninth player make this tournament is first PGA Tour victory.

It could not have come at a better place. Merrick grew up in Long Beach, attended this event as a kid and went to school down the street at UCLA.

?I can?t put this into words,? he said off the 10th green, his eyes welling with tears. ?Growing up as a kid, coming out here, I just wanted to play this tournament.?

It was a tough finish for Beljan, famous for having an anxiety attack when he won at Disney late last year.

He holed an 18-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, similar to the theatrics provided last year by Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley, to close with a 4-under 67 and wind up in a playoff.

He had to make a tough 6-foot putt for par on No. 18 on the first playoff hole.

Going to the par-4 10th, 315 yards of sheer nerves, Beljan drove long and left, and his chip didn?t reach the green. He putted his third shot just above the hole, and watched it slide by on the left for a bogey.

Beljan also made bogey on the 10th hole in regulation.

The key for Merrick might have been on the par-5 17th in regulation, when he pulled his second shot from a bunker toward the trees, only to find that he had just enough of a gap to go at the green and escape with par.

More great recoveries followed in the playoffs.

He was well to the right of the 18th fairway, and hit a hard punch shot that rolled just over the back of the green and allowed him to get up-and-down for par.

On the second hole, the dangerous 10th, he laid up too far to the right ? nothing short of a perfectly struck wedge could stay on the green, and he pulled it off, the ball settling 18 feet away.

A few inches longer and it would have tumbled into the back bunker.

Merrick, who finished on 11-under 273, moved to No. 4 in the FedEx Cup and is virtually assured of qualifying for his first World Golf Championship next month at Doral.

Fredrik Jacobson missed a 4-foot par putt on the 18th hole that would have put the Swede in a playoff.

He wound up with a 69 and tied for third with Charl Schwartzel (70) and Bill Haas (73), who also had chances to win at different stages in their rounds.

The final round contained far more drama than anyone imagined at the start of the day, when Haas had a three-shot lead.

Six players were separated by one shot going into the final hour at Riviera, and it easily could have been a repeat of that six-man playoff in 2001 in the cold rain.

This pleasant day of bright sunshine brought a few cloudy moments.

Hunter Mahan was tied for the lead after a 30-foot birdie on the 14th, only to drop four shots on the last four holes.

Nothing stung worse than the par-5 17th, where he three-putted from about 30 feet and made bogey. He wound up with a 69 on the day.

Jacobson was tied for the lead when he missed an 8-foot birdie attempt on the 17th, and then badly pulled a 4-foot par putt on the last hole and missed out on the playoff.

The Swede closed with a 69.

No one was more disgusted than Schwartzel, the former Masters champion. One shot out of the lead, he missed a 10-foot birdie putt on the par-3 16th, and then three-putted the 17th, missing a 6-footer for birdie. He closed with a 70 and tied for third, his seventh straight finish in the top five around the world.

Haas faded much sooner. He made five bogeys in a seven-hole stretch in the middle of his round, and his birdie-birdie finish allowed him to tie for third.

?Positives to be taken, but overall, you don?t get this many opportunities,? Haas said. ?A three-shot lead at one of the best tournaments of the year is a great opportunity that I squandered.?

Haas looked to be in good position to join Mickelson, Mike Weir, Corey Pavin and Ben Hogan as the only back-to-back winners at Riviera. And when he dropped in a 30-foot birdie putt on the third hole, he looked as though he would be tough to catch.

Instead of running away from the field, he let everyone back into the tournament. Haas made back-to-back bogeys late on the front nine, and his lead was down to one when he made the turn. It all began to take shape at No. 10, the hole where a year ago Haas holed a 45-foot birdie putt to win in a playoff.

Merrick laid up on the short par 4, and his wedge was inches from tumbling into a front bunker when it checked up on the fringe. He made birdie from just inside 15 feet and tied Haas for the lead. Mahan went from the front bunker to the back bunker and still saved par with an 8-foot putt, which loomed large when he wound up in a tie for the lead a few holes later.

Haas went just through the green and rolled down a slope into the rough, and from there he pitched too strong and into the bunker. He failed to get up-and-down and made bogey to fall out of the lead for the first time all day, and he never caught up. His tee shots sailed into the trees and into the rough, and he was out of the picture.

There was no shortage of clutch shots over the final hour, even if some of those putts were for par.

Merrick fell out of the lead with a bogey from the ditch left of the 13th green, and he was showing signs of a quick fade until he poured in a 25-foot par putt on the next hole, just moments after Jacobson holed a 30-foot par putt.

Beljan?s only bogey in the final round was on the 10th hole. He was flawless the rest of the way, until coming to the 10th hole in a playoff with the tournament on the line.

babubai: Sports Physiotherapy for Cycling Injuries | i Physio Perth

Bicycling, simply coined, as just cycling or biking is one good way to flex one?s leg muscles. It is a low impact sport and one good source for a total cardiovascular workout. Cycling is also a great venue for leisure and recreation as one gets to travel to places while keeping fit.

Being a sport involving strength, stamina and, of course, wheels, people who engage in cycling are at risk of pain and injuries which could be due to? a poorly maintained bicycle, unfit bicycle size and improper riding technique.

For cyclists, it is best that they check their bicycle before a ride and have them adjusted to fit their bodies and prevent injuries.

The most serious of all bike injuries is a head injury that is why cyclists should exercise careful consideration on how to wear the proper helmet, elbow and knee pads to keep damages at bay.

Cyclists are also advised to be always on the lookout for the early signs of injury so they will know what to do ahead. Injuries happening during a ride would leave them in discomfort to continue the journey?worse, could leave them on the road.

Here are common cycling injuries and how one should care for them.

Over Fatigue- frequent among cyclists and athletes who are training for a competition and is due to overtraining or straining their bodies beyond limits. When this happens, it is advisable for one to rest, relax and replenish the lost energies and cancel the ride for another day.

Muscle Cramps- a sudden tightening of the muscles where intense pain is felt due to a muscle locked in spasm. Should this injury happen, it is advisable for one to rest the injured muscle, gently massage and stretch it once in awhile until it regains its correct state. For leg cramps, putting some pressure on the injured leg and taking a warm shower helps to soothe the injury.

For the prevention of muscle cramps, cyclists are strongly advised to condition their bodies before a ride. This can be done by taking in supplements such as Vitamin B, adequate fluid hydration and electrolyte drinks. Stretching also helps the muscles flex, thereby, prevents shock from happening.

?Sprains / Strains- pain, swelling and bruising of joints as a result from constant strain. Should this injury happen, it is advisable for cyclists to take a rest and ice the injured area. Compression is also advised while keeping the injured area elevated to minimise swelling.

Hand Numbness / Ulnar Neuropathy- numbness and pain in the small and ring fingers this often the result of constant pressure on the handlebars over long periods. Should this injury occur; cyclists are advised to rest and flex their hands until the pain subsides.

Blisters- are fluid- filled pockets in the upper layers of the skin caused by friction from forceful rubbing, burning or infection. To prevent this injury from happening, cyclists are advised to put on sunscreen and sun protection equipment to avoid sunburn blisters. They are also advised to wear hand gloves to prevent friction with the handlebars.

For the immediate relief of blisters, cyclists are advised to put ice on top of the affected area until the pain subsides.

Knee Pain- Another common injury to cyclists, due to the constant application of leg pressure on the bike pedals. Should knee pains occur, it is advisable for cyclists to rest the injured area and put ice on it to soothe and minimise the swelling of the injury. Compression by wrapping the injury with an elastic badge and elevation will help the injury heal quickly.

In extreme cases, it is advisable to ask help from a medical professional or a physiotherapist in Perth for proper treatment and evaluation, as the cause could be serious.

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) ? is characterised by discomfort and pain from the constant contact of the thigh bone and the back of the kneecap. To care for this condition cyclists are advised to rest, put on ice to relieve the pain. If the pain frequently occurs, it is advised to seek help from a medical professional as orthotics and medication are required to permanently solve the problem.
