Justice Dept about to close probes of 2 detainees (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Attorney General Eric Holder says the Justice Department is preparing to close investigations into the deaths of two detainees while in CIA custody, marking the final chapter in a controversial review by the Obama administration into treatment of terrorism suspects during the George W. Bush administration.

Federal prosecutor John Durham has been looking at the deaths of Gul Rahman and Manadel al-Jamadi. Rahman died after being shackled to a cold concrete wall in a secret CIA prison in Kabul, Afghanistan. Al-Jamadi died in 2003 at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

Holder made the comment at a House committee hearing Thursday.

He didn't say whether or not charges would be brought. Holder said things during the interrogations were antithetical to American values and resulted in the death of certain people.
