DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--The Connecticut College men's basketball team earned a 69-63 victory against Mount Aloysius College Friday in the second round of the Land of Magic Classic hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Camels improve to 4-6 with the triumph, while the Mounties slip to 3-8.
Connecticut College was able to contain a high octane Mounty offense that was averaging 102 points per game. Mount Aloysius was limited to 11 field goals in the second stanza and was out-rebounded 42-to-33 in the contest.
"It was a good win for us," Connecticut College Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Satran said. "We bounced back well emotionally from a tough loss and really battled for forty minutes. Boris (Jeremic) gave us a big lift but we got solid contributions from lots of places and that's great to see."
Sophomore Matt Vadas (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) poured in a game-high 21 points with seven rebounds to lead the Camels offensively.
Rob Harrigan (Milford, Conn.) chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds for the winning side.
Mason Lopez (Edgewater, N.J.) added 11 points, seven boards and five steals for the Camels.
Freshman Bryan Gross (Great Falls, Va.) added eight points in 16 minutes of action.
Jeff Stem (Oakland, Md.) finished with 15 points for the Mounties. Davario Barksdale (Waldorf, Md.) contributed 14 points and nine rebounds in the setback.
Kyle Baughman (Lorain, Ohio) chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds and five steals for Mount Aloysius.
